Have Breakfast with Jesus, and Julie

As unlikely as it seems, Christmas is about here! Most of our stores are adorned with Christmas trees and suggestions for gift giving. So, I want to tell you about a wonderful little gift Mary and I received last Christmas. We have been able to use it all year long, and will be able to use it for many years!

Here is the review I wrote earlier, on  Amazon, for this inspiring little book:

If you believe Jesus is our Saviour you must have this book! If you don’t believe in Him, then you need this book!

Last December my wife Mary, and I did much of our shopping at St. Mary’s Bookstore in Nashville. As we were leaving the store Julie, the store mamager, slipped a book into our bag, smiled and wished us a Merry Christmas.
What a delight to find Jesus at My Side: 365 Reflections on His Words in the bag when we arrived home.
This devotional book starts each day with a line or two from Scripture. Today’s was John 12:30. “This voice did not come for my sake but for you.”
Then Julie has a short story about her mother saying, “I’m not just talking to hear myself talk.” Which of us has not heard our mothers’ say that?
She follows that with a short story from her own life as mother and store manager saying she wants her “...children and co-workers to benefit from my years of mistakes, not just to hear myself talk.”
The final paragraph tells of God’s desire to have us hear Him and His son. “God does not speak to save His Son… We are the ones who need to listen and to obey. Hear His voice.”
When we take a couple of minutes to read this devotional, we can relate to her stories which bring the Scriptures into our lives.
We really spend that time with Jesus and think of Julie with affection.
We are saddened to think we have come to the end of the book, but we can read it again next year.
Thanks Julie. We appreciate you, your store, and your wonderful book.
And readers, make sure you have this book to inspire you next year and pick up a few extra copies to stuff into the stockings of those you love!
