Advice from The World’s Next “Greatest Generation”

Remember my May 29th post about the Salutatorian at our local highschool? Well, the “Tennessean”, Nashville’s daily newspaper, asked the Valedictorians and Salutatorians from our local schools to write a few words of advice for today’s graduates.
Here is what Kevin J. Okseniuk, the man I told you about had to say:

I would love for my peers and neighbors to go out to ‘the world” (which may be as close as a few miles away)  and open their eyes and ears to the needs and stories of others. This will in turn induce thankfulness for the blessings they have in their home community of Williamson County. Thankfulness functions as an ‘invisible hand’ that raises communal efficacy and consequently brings forth a transcendental purpose to the actions and passions we engage in and pursue in our lives. Needless to say, nothing of this could ever go in the right direction without a solid civic and moral foundation in individual citizens. We must foster these values with excellence through quality educational institutions and, most importantly, through parents that unashameldly raise their children on the basis of integrity, perseverance, humility, sacrifice, turth, love, and service.

See why I think the world really has its best years ahead! And why the world’s next “greatest generation” is right around the corner!
